In this class, kids will be introduced to the art of ballet through movement repetition, music, and a little bit of history to build confidence, musicality, coordination, and discipline- in an age-appropriate environment tailored to beginning ballet students. The class will become familiar with the basic movements, positions, and stretches associated with classical ballet. Students will be guided through traditional barre work, stretching, center work, and reverance each week. Gross motor movements will include an introduction to jumps, skipping, and saches-- combined with musicality and learned arm positions as the class progresses.
Learn MoreIn this session, we will be focusing on 3 different holidays. There will be a very child-friendly, brief history about Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter. We will also discuss where the word "holiday" originated. We will also be reading a fun story and making an art project for each holiday mentioned. *As we are a secular co-op, when teaching art history, I remind kids that we respect all beliefs. In past art classes, we have explored other cultures, traditions, and beliefs. These holidays happen to refer to "some" Christian-based beliefs, as well as the origins of the holiday, starting in Ireland and Rome. We will also learn about some fun traditions all over the world.
